Anxiety is often a bi-product of depression. What helps me when I am feeling anxious is reciting scriptures that speak directly to the anxious thoughts. I am also a huge fan of mindful meditation, and practicing the control of a beautiful environment that helps to still the mind and give me more peace. The key to peace of mind is stillness. Here are some tools to help with stillness.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not be afraid.”
John 14:27
While our relationships with Christ is the main priority, the reality of battling with mental health also means that our minds can get so weak that we just cannot read the Bible or do anything spiritual. For those moments, I want you to remember that you do not have to force that smile. You do not have to perform as a Christian. Be yourself. I want you just to rest.
Poem:
Masks By Shel Silverstein
She had blue skin
And so did he
He kept it hid
And so did she.
They searched for blue
Their whole life through
They passed right by
And never knew.
