Life, Liberty & The Pursuit of Happiness

First a Short Poem:

The clock strikes 9

I eat breakfast, turn on the T.V.

Sound bites of Nancy Pelosi complaining

That Roe v. Wade has been overturned

Are blaring through speakers it seems

A Woman’s body is her own… she says

It is “a slap in the face to women”… she charges

Give them back their rights.

The clock strikes 12

I open an email from my local church

Celebrating that woman can no longer

Kill their unborn children

That that “prayers have been answered”

That so much work is left to do.

That it should have been this way all along,

After all, our constitution says that ALL MEN

Were endowed by God with the rights to LIFE.

liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

The clock strikes 3.

I pray to God.

“God, what do you say?”

And then I remember: He says this in Isaiah:

“Is not the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and to break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter–when you see the naked to cloth them and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?” — Isaiah 58: 6-7

God is saying here that He demands justice for the oppressed and freedom for those under yokes (slavery that is). This means that God’s definition of righteousness will bring the highest level of freedom. That is what women are really seeking when they say “My body is my body.”

God is saying “Lay everything down and give me your life. I am true freedom.”

My friends…Is it not a fair exchange? We spend our whole lives, working 9-5 voting, and paying taxes all for a system of government that only ever gives us SOME of what we need. Give your life to Christ and you will inherit everything you need! You will know true righteousness. You will see true kindness and true love as it is demonstrated in this scripture I just shared with you. There is nothing self-seeking in Christ. He truly loves you, but our government loves only it’s agenda.

Come all ye weary and heavy laden

Where does that leave me Mauriel? I know what you’re thinking. You want to know which opinion on the matter of abortion gets you into heaven. Neither position will earn you extra points with God, you see because God is waiting for you to give your whole soul over to Him, so that you may be truly free. He wants to love you until you become like Him. He has never been impressed with short-cuts. Sorry, not sorry.

So come all ye weary and heavy laden. Lay all your burdens down at the cross. Give your life over to Christ, and find true freedom, for not only this body that you want to protect, but for your soul and spirit also.

In love,
